Building the Future of Tourism is a forum for cutting-edge insights into the latest developments in tourism research.
The series publishes both monographs and edited volumes, addressing critical issues in the evolution of the tourism sector from both theoretical and empirical perspectives. With a focus on enhancing the resilience and sustainability of tourism, travel, and hospitality, these works delve into a broad range of topics, including the social, environmental, and cultural dimensions of the industry, as well as marketing management and technological innovations.
The series also seeks to provide comprehensive strategies for addressing potential risks and uncertainties within the industry. Through a combination of policy analysis, planning frameworks, and practical solutions, it aims to offer valuable insights for mitigating damage and fostering recovery. While the series acknowledges the challenges posed by recent global crises, its broader aim is to equip scholars, practitioners, and industry professionals with the knowledge needed to navigate future challenges and seize emerging opportunities in the tourism sector.

Joyce Osland, Ph.D.

Joyce Osland, Ph.D. professor emerita, is an internationally known specialist in international management with a focus on global leadership, Latin America, organization development, and inclusion.
She retired from her position as the Lucas Endowed Professor of Global Leadership and Executive Director and founder of the Global Leadership Advancement Center (GLAC) at San Jose State University’s Lucas College and Graduate School of Business in the Silicon Valley. She currently runs executive education programs and consults with companies, universities, and global non-profits on organizational effectiveness, intercultural competence, global leadership and inclusion.
The Advances in Global Leadership series provides a critical exploration of leadership across diverse cultural and global contexts, examining the challenges and skills necessary for effective leadership in an interconnected world. The series brings together academic insights and practical approaches to global leadership, highlighting emerging trends, frameworks, and the role of cultural agility.
As organisations and leadership become more global, there is a pressing need for better-developed conceptual models and definitions of what is meant by global leadership.
Further, there is a need to integrate models and empirical evidence from multiple cultures and especially from non-Western authors.
This series will be of value to: academics doing research and teaching on subjects related to leadership, international business, organisational behaviour, and international management.
It will also appeal to practitioners and consultants who are managing global leadership development processes; and to individuals with an interest in global leadership issues.
We aim to champion researchers, practitioners, policymakers and organisations who share our goals of contributing to a more ethical, responsible and sustainable way of working.
Comparative Social Research seeks well-written articles that place the current or historical data in context critically review the literature of comparative studies or provide new theoretical or methodological insights.
The series recognizes that comparative research is theoretically and methodologically interdisciplinary and encourages and supports these trends.

Fredrik Engelstad is a prominent Norwegian sociologist known for his extensive contributions to the fields of power, democracy, and institutional change.
Dr. Engelstad served as the Director of the Norwegian Institute for Social Research from 1986 to 2007. He also held a part-time position as Professor of Sociology at the University of Oslo from 1990 to 2007, becoming a full-time professor in 2008 and later Professor Emeritus in 201412.
His research has focused on labour markets, organizational studies, and the sociology of culture.
Despite the growing awareness of globalization, the main bulk of empirical work in the social sciences remains within the frames of what Stein Rokkan termed national empiricism. Comparative Social Research aims at furthering the international orientation in the social sciences.
Responding to a need for international orientation in the social sciences, each volume in this series is concentrated on a specific topic mostly of substantive but also of methodological character.
Typically chapters present two or more cases for comparison: be they nations, regions, organizations or social units at different points of time.
The volumes embrace a broad set of topics such as comparative studies of universities as institutions for production and diffusion of knowledge, family policies, regional cultures, and institutional aspects of work and wage formation.
We are passionate about working with researchers globally to deliver a fairer, more inclusive society. This perhaps has never been more important than in today’s divided world.

,This book series addresses the important intersection between education, employability and work.
Education is under increased pressure to respond to the demands of the society and critical issues such as rising unemployment, heightened job competition, unbalanced demand and supply in the labour market, changing labour market, and global financial, health and climate crises.
In particular, digitalisation in industries and workplaces, including the rise of automation and Artificial Intelligence (AI), has generated an increased demand for digital literacy and changing skillsets. Countries are also facing with a range of issues related to diversity, equity and inclusion in both workplaces and the provision of work-integrated learning, including apprenticeship arrangements, and in specific occupations and industries.
This book series will focus on international perspectives on policies, practices and challenges and new developments in the following areas:
This book series, including short form books of up to 50,000 words, edited volumes and standard monographs, is designed to cover theoretical perspectives, practical examples and evidence-based research on the nexus of education, employability and work.
Contributions from a diversity of international contexts and disciplinary perspectives are welcome. We also welcome established scholars and emerging and early career researchers to contribute to this book series.
