Change in higher education around the world has been occurring at an unprecedented rate. This rapid change is primarily the result of macro-level political economic social technological and environmental forces.

Sharing Death Online embraces the fact that death is both a basic human condition that humans share socially, and an event in human life that calls people to be intimate and to share their human experiences both in relation to death and to other basic life conditions such as family, love, loneliness, health, friends, etc.

Viewing death as crisis, endpoint, turning point as well as a source of experimentation, creativity and transgression, the series welcomes both analytical case studies and theoretical and analytical contributions from and across a great variety of disciplines including media sociology, media aesthetics, cultural studies, digital design, psychology, visual anthropology and more.

This book series addresses the global imbalance in knowledge production between the Global North and South.

Despite making up only 15% of the world's population, the US and UK produce over half of the academic output, leading to a narrow perspective based on a few societies in Western Europe and North America. And yet, notwithstanding its apparent significance as a site of obvious sociological, legal and criminological interest, the global south has remained marginal to the concerns and research agendas of law and criminology.

This book series aims to redress this bias, to enlarge the criminological imagination to encompass global south experiences and ideas. Our goal is to broaden the criminological perspective by including experiences from the Global South. This region, home to nearly 85% of the world's population across Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the island nations of the Indian and Pacific Oceans, faces significant challenges. Issues such as armed conflicts, military coups, and severe human rights abuses often have a greater impact in the Global South compared to the North.

This series explores the insights and solutions emerging from the Global South to gain a more comprehensive understanding of global issues.
