The Hospitality, Tourism, Creative and Cultural (HTCC) Industries in Africa series offers a multidisciplinary platform for advancing scholarship, policy, and practice across Africa’s hospitality, tourism, and creative economy sectors. These industries are engines of economic growth, cultural identity, and global competitiveness, but they also face significant challenges relating to sustainability, digital disruption, and governance.
The series highlights historical, contemporary, and geographical perspectives, alongside practice-oriented insights, to explore how African HTCC organizations can position themselves to meet customer and stakeholder needs in a sustainable, innovative, and globally competitive manner.
The series aims to:
Advance African-centered scholarship on HTCC industries, incorporating diverse methodologies and perspectives.
Provide actionable insights on governance, policy, and innovation for the sustainable development of Africa’s HTCC sectors.
Engage with global shifts including digital disruption, technological transformation, and sustainability imperatives.
Support the SDGs, especially SDG 8 (Decent Work & Growth), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 17 (Partnerships).
Encourage knowledge exchange between academics, practitioners, policymakers, and cultural entrepreneurs across Africa and the diaspora.
We aim to champion researchers, practitioners, policymakers and organisations who share our goals of contributing to a more ethical, responsible and sustainable way of working.
