Develop & grow

You'll have the opportunity to work directly with senior leaders and decision makers, whilst being supported to upskill and open more doors.

As a business we are inquisitive, we challenge the status quo and we're not afraid to make mistakes.

We are not the biggest publisher out there so we can’t always offer a clear "ladder", but if you can cope with a "squiggly" career and want the opportunity to work directly with senior leaders and decision makers, we might just be the place for you.

We provide opportunities and support like training, secondments, leadership development and our CEO reverse mentoring programme; all there to help you to upskill and open more doors. All that we ask in exchange is that you are proactive and take charge of your own destiny; together we can do great things!

Our high-performance behaviours

At Emerald, we always strive to act in a way that reflects our values and creates impact. These are the behaviours that we expect of our high performing team.

Own

Emerald colleagues always act for the benefit of Emerald and our communities, not themselves or their team. They never say, "that's not my job" and pull together as a team to own the job at hand and get it done. They are frugal with our resources and admit their mistakes. They don’t shy away from raising issues, but once a decision is made, they back it fully.

Innovate

Emerald colleagues are constantly looking for new ways to improve. They have a curious mind and a deep understanding of our business and the world around us.

Inspire and develop

Emerald colleagues inspire others by creating a vision that inspires and motivates everyone to do their jobs better. They take their roles as coaches and mentors seriously and make time to prioritise this. They earn trust by acting with humility, compassion, and respect, and creating an open and honest environment where issues can be raised and discussed constructively.

Include

Emerald colleagues value others' opinions, we know that great ideas can come from anywhere, so we listen to others and seek out other points of view. Conversation helps us all. We embrace diversity in our teams, and across departments, and act where we see inequities. We recognise that we have biases and work to counteract them.

Deliver

Emerald colleagues have a bias towards action. They set clear SMART goals for themselves and clear their own path to achieve them, asking for support where required. They have high standards, and a determination to go above and beyond, but understand how to combine quality with speed of delivery. They adapt to changes around them, are comfortable making decisions and take smart risks.

Role model

Emerald colleagues understand the role they play in creating our workplace culture and take this responsibility seriously. They challenge themselves, and their wider team, to consistently model our company values and high performance behaviours.

Onboarding and induction

During onboarding and induction, we will provide you with guides to your first day, week, and three months with us. Each section includes a checklist of what to focus on, milestones to hit, and suggestions for how to get the most out of your time with us.

Our talent development lead will be on hand throughout to support your development.
