After the success of Dr Christine O’Dea and Dr Davy Tsz Kit Ng's first Emerald Points book (https://www.emerald.com/books/edited-volume/17291/Effective-Practices-in-AI-Literacy-Education-Case); Emerald's second best selling points book across all subject areas, and the top selling Points book in education in 2024/2025), we would like to invite you to contribute a chapter to an upcoming edited book titled “Empowering Graduate Skills in the Age of Augmented Intelligence: Theories and Practices of Creative Pedagogy”. This Emerald Points book is edited by Dr Christine O’Dea (King’s College London), Dr Davy Tk Ng (The Education University of Hong Kong), Dr Jac Ka Lok Leung (Hong Kong University of Science and Technology) and Dr Mike O’Dea (University of York). 

Emerald Points is a short-form book series that promises submission to digital publication within 12

The book addresses the urgent need for effective and innovative pedagogical approaches for training and developing graduate skills in the age of augmented intelligence. It aims to empower the reader with underpinning theories and practices through showcasing cross-disciplinary case studies. 

We are seeking original and unpublished chapters that will go into the second part of the book: case studies in creative pedagogies in the age of Augmented Intelligence. The need for rethinking and potentially changing pedagogies in higher education has been recognized. However, even though educators and students started getting more familiar with GenAI and know how to use various tools to complete some tasks, there is a lack of both theoretical and pedagogical guidance and examples on how we should implement such a revolution or improvement of our pedagogical approaches, and also on whether, and to what extent, these changes will have a positive impact on the development of students’ graduate skills. Since part one focuses on the theoretical foundations, this part emphasizes mainly the practical examples in different subject disciplines and local settings. 

We aim to include case studies from a range of country contexts, as well as from a variety of institutions and SHAPE and STEM disciplines. 

A chapter should be no more than 3,000 words (including references) and include the following: 

• A brief author biography (50 words)
• Background and rational
• Theoretical framework – clearly outlining the creative pedagogy used
• Key skills addressed – what graduate skills are being developed for augmented intelligence  
• Evaluation of effectiveness – from student and/or educator perspectives
• Contribution to the field – what this adds to research/practice in AI and graduate skills.
• Final reflection and recommendation (e.g., what worked, challenges, limitations, future plans)  

Please note that each chapter only allows ONE figure/table. 

Timeline

• Submission of your Express of Interest form: 30th May - (a title and a short abstract in 50 words) - please email your EOI to Christine.
• Submission of the draft chapter: 1st August 2026
• Submission of the final chapter: 1st October 2026
• Book publication: Jan. 2027.
