Emerald Publishing is delighted to announce it’s been shortlisted for the 2024 Independent Publishing Awards, Alison Morrison Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Award.
This is the fourth year in a row Emerald has been shortlisted for the award, recognising the high standards of diversity and inclusion we’re proud to have developed and continue to maintain.
Launched in 2007, the awards highlight the success of the UK’s independent publishing sector. Managed by the Independent Publishers Guild, they celebrate achievements across a wide range of publishing areas and are judged by a panel of industry experts.
The judges commended Emerald for our commitment to making our industry more diverse and inclusive, both as an employer and a publisher of high quality, diverse content: "Emerald does great work on DEI that many other publishers could learn from. It’s not just box-ticking – it’s paying proper attention to its workforce and output and always looking for ways to improve."
Vicky Williams, Chief Executive Officer, Emerald Publishing said: "We’re proud and pleased to be recognised for the rewarding work we’ve put in to ensure that diversity and inclusion are part of all aspects of Emerald Publishing. We’re passionate about making a difference, working with researchers all over the world to work towards a fairer and more inclusive society. As a business, we can make a bigger impact when diverse voices are included, and we’re committed to continuing our work to ensure diversity and inclusion are at the core of what we do."
Danielle Ormshaw, Inclusion Lead, Emerald Publishing said: "Being recognised for reaching some of the highest standards of diversity in publishing means the world to us. Our colleagues have worked incredibly hard to make a positive impact on our workplace culture and our publishing programme."
