Introduction
Nanomaterials and Energy recently published a special issue to celebrate Prof. Heinz Palkowski’s distinguished career and contributions on his 70th birthday. The Honorary Symposium, held at the Italy, was dedicated to Prof. Palkowski’s legacy. It highlighted his ground-breaking work at the Clausthal University of Technology, encompassing materials development, processing, and characterization across various disciplines and applications.
Prof. Palkowski has had a significant impact on materials science and engineering. Alongside his team, he has achieved remarkable progress in lightweight materials, eco-friendly manufacturing, and innovative material combinations like hybrid metals and polymers. His commitment to the field has resulted in notable enhancements in the mechanical properties of materials and highlighted the importance of economic and environmental sustainability through waste reduction.
