Organization Management Journal (OMJ) is pleased to announce a call for proposals for an upcoming review issue to be published in December 2025. We encourage authors to propose reviews spanning all areas of management line with the scope of OMJ.
Effective proposals will demonstrate why the review is necessary; that is, how the proposed review paper will advance an area of management study. High-quality reviews summarize and synthesize the extant literature of an area of inquiry, reveal nonobvious trends and findings in previous research, and propose new directions for future scholarship. OMJ is not interested in literature reviews that simply summarize an existing literature. All types of literature review are welcome, including narrative reviews, descriptive reviews, critical reviews, meta-analytic reviews, and any other which may advance the study of organizational management.
Proposals should be no more than five pages, in double-spaced Times New Roman 12-point font. References do not count against the 5-page limit, but tables, figures, and appendices do. Embed tables and figures in the document. Do not send complete papers.
Proposals will be evaluated through double-blind peer review based on the following criteria:
- Relevance to the study of organizational management.
- Potential depth and breadth of impact to future scholarship.
- Clarity and feasibility of the proposed project.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the subject matter and extant literature.
The following evaluation criteria may also cause an article to receive an editorial rejection prior to peer review (i.e., desk reject):
- Not adhering to submission guidelines.
- Lack of relevance.
- Poor organization.
- Ineffective writing style.
- Abundant grammar, spelling, or punctuation issues.
Articles selected to move to the next round (i.e., submission of a full manuscript) are not guaranteed publication. A submitted full manuscript will be reviewed by at least two external reviewers and the special-issue editors to assess its suitability to the journal and the review issue. Authors should adhere to the OMJ submission guidelines, available at: Organization Management Journal | Emerald Publishing (emeraldgrouppublishing.com).
Authors should pay special attention to the article length requirement in the submission guidelines. It reads, “Articles should be 4,000-5,000 words in length. This includes all text including references and appendices. Please allow 280 words for each figure or table.” OMJ publishes concise manuscripts with strong potential to significantly impact research and practice, and crafting a quality review within the word-count constraint will require careful consideration of article focus, scope, and writing style. We strongly encourage authors to consider how they might structure their final manuscript to meet the submission guidelines prior to submitting a proposal for the review issue.
