Emerald's Vicky Williams to chair ALPSP gender diversity webinar

24th May 2022

Vicky Williams, Chief Executive of Emerald Group, will be chairing the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers’(ALPSP) gender diversity in publishing leadership webinar which takes place on the 15th June.

Statistics have shown that the proportion of females in the workforce declines as role seniority increases and that scholarly publishing is no exception to this. Females face unique and often intersectional challenges as they move up the career ladder; some being societal, some systemic.

The online webinar will show delegates how they can practically introduce initiatives to address the systemic and societal barriers which may exist within their publishing organisations. Delegates will also hear from four speakers on how they’ve personally navigated these challenges. This includes Dr Hazel Norman, Chief Executive of the British Ecological Society, Mandy Hill, Managing Director at Cambridge University Press & Assessment, Rebecca Lawrence, Managing Director at F1000 and Nicola Ramsey, CEO at Edinburgh University Press.

Both in and out of work, Vicky Williams is a keen advocate for gender diversity, having launched Emerald’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion programme in 2016, and speaks widely on this topic at global forums and events.

The event takes place on the 15th June at 14:00-15:30 BST and is free to ALPSP members.
