Global academic publisher Emerald Publishing has launched its latest mission, Responsible management: The key to zero hunger?, as part of its ongoing commitment to supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Emerald missions are campaigns that focus on addressing key societal themes or challenges, using provocative questions to highlight and commission new research and insights, which is often free to access. These campaigns include various formats like blogs, infographics, videos, podcasts, and webinars to amplify research and reach a broader audience beyond academia. The missions stem from Emerald Goals which include:
- Responsible management
- Fairer society
- Healthier lives
- Sustainable structures and infrastructures
- Quality education for all
These five goals encompass overlapping SDGs to address complex societal challenges through curated, interdisciplinary content.
The latest ‘key to zero hunger’ mission is part of the responsible management goal and looks at how despite an advanced global food system, millions still go hungry, highlighting the need for responsible management in all areas of food systems to secure a just future for all.
This mission explores pressing questions including:
- How do structural flaws in global policies perpetuate food insecurity?
- How do climate change, poverty, and political instability deepen the crisis?
- Can food sovereignty initiatives create lasting solutions?
You can access related research and resources that begins to address these questions like:
- Free to access journal articles
- Author insights from blogs and podcast episodes
- Our new open access journal: Global Smart Food Systems
- Guidance on how to get your food systems research published
- Infographic insights on Breaking the ‘cycle of inertia’ in food supply chains
Emerald Publishing invites the media, academics, policymakers, and industry leaders to engage with this mission and join us in making meaningful change to address the global challenges of food insecurity.
