Emerald Publishing awarded for its leading employee wellbeing strategy at Inside Out Mental Health Awards
12th April 2021
Emerald Publishing is delighted to have been awarded the winner of the 'SME Strategy' category at the 2021 Inside Out Mental Health Awards.
The awards, hosted in association with Unmind, celebrate the creation of mentally healthy workplaces that allow all employees to prioritise their wellbeing.
Emerald was one of more than 200 entries to the awards and judges praised Emerald’s efforts over the past few years to prioritise and bring more awareness to mental health at work and break down any stigmas attached. Emerald works hard to provide equal opportunities to all and to date has implemented various initiatives including:
- The 'Let’s talk about…' campaign which invites colleagues to talk about their mental health and share their stories, covering topics such as PTSD, ADHD and borderline personality disorder
- Training individuals within the business as Mental Health First Aiders
- Running an annual Wellbeing Week where employees can participate in workshops and talks dedicated to improving wellbeing
Emily Hodgson, HR Business Partner said: “We are delighted to win the SME strategy award. The physical, mental and financial wellbeing of our employees is something we take seriously at Emerald. We recognise that we have a duty of care to promote good wellbeing along with empowering and enabling our employees to put their wellbeing as a priority.
“By creating an environment of trust and openness, we are seeing an increase in colleagues becoming comfortable to be open and talk about their mental health and get the support they need. As a business we want to continue to provide essential tools and resources to ensure wellbeing support is easily accessible and that mental health continues to be at the forefront of our minds.”
In 2020, Emerald was awarded Silver at Mind’s Workplace Wellbeing Awards for its commitment to wellbeing.

Notes on Emerald Publishing & usage during COVID-19
At present we are living in a difficult and uncertain time around the world, as we face the fight against COVID-19. Now, more than ever, people need quick and easy online access to the information we publish on Emerald Insight and the opportunities to share their research, so we are keen to ensure that all of our users have access to research, even if institutions are closed. To help with any issues, and keep people up to date with new information we launched our Customer Support Portal.
We have made research on COVID-19, the management of epidemics and pandemics, and supply chain management free for anyone to access and have also made this available with full text and data mining rights to PubMed Central and the World Health Organisation repository. We will continue to make relevant research freely available on this site.
