Emerald Publishing announces partnership with the EveryLibrary Institute to support academic librarians in the U.S.

24th March 2025

Emerald Publishing, a global publisher with a longstanding commitment to empowering change in the real world, today announces a strategic partnership with the EveryLibrary Institute (ELI), a non-profit, non-partisan organisation committed to advancing and supporting libraries, academic institutions, and library professionals.

Emerald Publishing announces partnership with the EveryLibrary Institute bannerWith Emerald’s support, the EveryLibrary Institute will host a series of educational webinars for the academic library community in the U.S., beginning in April. The sessions will provide insight into ongoing actions taking place at the federal and state government level that impact academic libraries. The ELI team will provide practical, actionable strategies and ideas for maintaining the ability to serve institutions and patrons effectively in an increasingly complex environment.

“We’re delighted to be the first scholarly publisher to underwrite the work of the EveryLibrary Institute,” said Terri Teleen, Emerald President for the Americas. “Libraries are the backbone of the research and higher education ecosystem, and the library profession stands for intellectual freedom and the possibility of meaningful, real-world change. We hope that academic librarians in the U.S. will benefit from access to ELI’s research and expertise.”

EveryLibrary Executive Director John Chrastka said that as the first scholarly publisher to partner with the EveryLibrary Institute, Emerald is showcasing the institute’s work, increasing awareness among academic library professionals, and providing librarians with timely resources. “We’re in an era where showing up for libraries is essential and in academia, libraries have a large role to play in issues impacting researchers and their institutions. This partnership demonstrates Emerald’s support for the work being done in academia, the future of research, and the role of library professionals, along with a continued desire to better inform the scholarly community writ large.”

Barbara Chin, Emerald Vice President for Content & Partnerships said: “Emerald publishes an extensive list in library science, and we view librarians as partners. In this spirit, we want to support them in these challenging times and help bring ELI’s expertise to the academic community.”
