Call for Early Career Researchers!

The Journal of Knowledge Management (JKM) has recently established an Early Career Review Board and is pleased to announce a call for outstanding early career researchers to join this community of peer reviewers.

As one of the world's leading journals in the fields of knowledge management, intellectual capital, information science, innovation, digital transformation, and related management disciplines, JKM recognises the importance of supporting the development of the next generation of academic scholars while maintaining the highest standards of scholarly excellence. We are committed to providing a platform through which promising researchers can further develop their editorial competencies, gain valuable insight into the peer review and publishing process, and contribute to the advancement of knowledge within the international research community. We welcome applications from:

Early Career Researchers: Scholars who have successfully completed a PhD and currently hold an academic appointment equivalent to Tenured Researcher, Assistant Professor, Lecturer, Senior Lecturer, Research Fellow, or a comparable position at an accredited public or private University or recognised Research institution. Applicants should normally be within ten years of completing their doctoral studies.

We are looking for individuals whose expertise aligns with the broad scope of the Journal of Knowledge Management. Review Board members will be selected on the basis of their demonstrated scholarly competence in one or more of the journal's thematic areas, including but not limited to:

  • Knowledge Management and Knowledge-Based Organisations
  • Intellectual Capital and Intangible Assets
  • Organisational Learning and Learning Organisations
  • Knowledge Sharing, Knowledge Hiding and Knowledge Transfer
  • Innovation Management and Open Innovation
  • Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence
  • Data-Driven Decision Making and Business Intelligence
  • Human Resource Management and Knowledge Work
  • Strategic Management and Dynamic Capabilities
  • Entrepreneurship, Ecosystems and Knowledge Networks
  • Sustainability, Responsible Innovation and Societal Impact
  • Information Systems and Digital Knowledge Ecosystems

Particular consideration will be given to applicants demonstrating strong methodological expertise, including advanced qualitative, quantitative and mixed-methods research designs. Experience with techniques such as structural equation modelling, multilevel modelling, bibliometric and scientometric analysis, longitudinal methods, experimental research, qualitative comparative analysis, grounded theory, ethnography, case study research and advanced analytical approaches is highly valued. The composition of the Early Career Review Board will reflect JKM's commitment to diversity, inclusion and international representation. Particular attention will therefore be devoted to achieving an appropriate balance across gender, geographical regions, disciplinary backgrounds and methodological traditions. Editorial and reviewing experience will be carefully considered during the selection process. Priority will be given to candidates who can demonstrate at least five years of experience in peer-review activities, editorial board service, guest editing, editorial assistance or related scholarly publishing roles within the journal's subject domains.

Additional desirable qualifications include:

  • a strong publication record in internationally recognised peer-reviewed journals;
  • evidence of active engagement with the international scholarly community through conferences, research networks and academic associations;
  • demonstrated ability to deliver rigorous, constructive and developmental peer reviews;
  • familiarity with research integrity standards, open science principles and responsible use of artificial intelligence in research;
  • expertise in interdisciplinary and cross-disciplinary research;
  • experience supervising doctoral candidates and early-stage researchers;
  • evidence of international research collaboration and project participation.

Expectations

Reviewers are expected to provide rigorous, constructive, developmental and timely feedback on submitted manuscripts. Members of the Early Career Review Board will be expected to uphold the highest standards of academic integrity, confidentiality and professionalism throughout the peer review process. On average, reviewers may be invited to assess between four and eight manuscripts per year, depending on their areas of expertise and availability.

Applications will be evaluated on the basis of academic excellence, methodological competence, reviewing and editorial experience, thematic fit with the journal, and the overall objective of ensuring a diverse and globally representative Review Board.
