Caribbean Educational Research Journal

Overview

The Caribbean Educational Research Journal (CERJ) invites open submissions for regular issues exploring innovative, impactful, and forward-looking research in Caribbean education and related global contexts.

CERJ is a peer-reviewed journal dedicated to publishing high-quality research focused on Caribbean contexts, populations, and perspectives, as well as work with direct implications for Caribbean education systems worldwide.  

This journal aims to bring together cutting-edge scholarship that advances understanding, informs policy, and strengthens practice across the region and its diasporas.

Aim and Scope  

The journal seeks to explore:

  • Emerging challenges and opportunities within Caribbean education
  • Innovative pedagogical, policy, and practice-based responses
  • The relationship between local contexts and global educational agendas
  • Research that links theory to practice and demonstrates real-world impact

Submissions may focus on education across all levels (early childhood, primary, secondary, tertiary, and lifelong learning) and may draw on regional or comparative perspectives

Topics of Interest

Indicative topics include, but are not limited to:

  • Equity, inclusion, and access in Caribbean education
  • Curriculum reform and decolonising education
  • Teacher education, retention, and professional learning
  • Student wellbeing and holistic development
  • Digital education, online learning, and AI in Caribbean contexts
  • Educational leadership, governance, and policy reform
  • Climate change, sustainability, and education
  • Caribbean identities, cultures, and knowledge systems
  • Global and comparative perspectives involving the Caribbean

Note: These themes are illustrative. Submissions on other relevant topics are strongly encouraged.

Types of Contributions

CERJ welcomes a wide range of submissions, including:

  • Original empirical research (qualitative, quantitative, or mixed methods)
  • Conceptual and theoretical papers
  • Systematic or scoping reviews
  • Policy analyses
  • Practitioner-focused research and case studies

The journal supports diverse methodologies and encourages innovative and multimodal approaches to research dissemination. 

Submission Information

Submissions should be made via ScholarOne Manuscripts in line with the journal’s submission process.  

Authors should ensure that:

  • Manuscripts are original and not under consideration elsewhere
  • Submissions adhere to the journal’s author guidelines
