'Alcohol, substance use and mental health: closing the care gap' conference 2026

Advances in Dual Diagnosis

We’re excited to share that Emerald Publishing will be attending the ‘Alcohol, substance use and mental health: closing the care gap’ conference on January 23 2026.

The aim of the event is to present findings of recent NIHR-funded research exploring service user and care provider experiences of accessing/delivering support for problematic substance use and co-occurring mental and/or physical ill-health, as well as the latest evidence on which models and pathways of care might be more effective for this group.

The event will showcase recent innovations in substance use and mental health care services in the North East region and beyond, and explore the wider relevance of the research findings nationally and internationally. This event will provide a prime opportunity for networking with colleagues and peers from the region and nationally who have an interest in improving care for this underserved group

The conference will take place at The Frederick Douglass Centre (Newcastle Helix), Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK, on the 23rd of January 2026.

We will be hosting a stand to promote Advances in Dual Diagnosis alongside other titles from Emerald’s health and social care portfolio.

We are looking forward to meeting colleagues, discussing publishing opportunities in Emerald’s journals, and exploring ways to collaborate.
