Emerald Publishing statement on the updates to Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act

Emerald is committed to providing accessible products and services that are designed to align with applicable laws and standards, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

Emerald is taking active steps to align its content offering with ADA Title II guidelines by the deadline of April 26th 2027. Emerald’s digital services are designed to meet the ADA’s requirement to conform with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 level AA and our current conformance is documented in our Emerald Publishing Accessibility Statement where you can also download our current VPAT®.

Books

All books published by Emerald since May 2025 are published in an accessible format (EPUB). For older eBooks, Emerald enables users and institutions to request accessibility remediation for eBook content and receive back the republished, accessible version. Please use the accessibility contact form at the bottom of this page to request remediated content. We have an ongoing remediation plan and have already completed work on the conversion of books published in 2025/2024 and our top 100 accessed books.  

Journals

All journal article content published since January 2016 has accessible HTML and optimised PDFs, and all content published from January 2026 also has alternative text to ensure compatibility with assistive and adaptive technology. We also have an active management plan to remediate content prior to May 2025 for accessibility.  Please use the accessibility contact form at the bottom of this page to request remediated content. 

Submission systems

Emerald currently uses ScholarOne Manuscripts for submission for most of our journal content. If an author, reviewer, or editor needs assistance with a book or journal submission, or with editorial or review activities, Emerald will work to provide disability accommodations as needed to allow our users to proceed through the workflow. Please contact us for support.
