The Value of Data in the Digital Supply Chain

Introduction

With rapidly evolving capabilities across data analytics, automation, blockchain, cloud computing, industrial Internet, and generative AI, the digital supply chain is becoming the new normal for many firms. The digital supply chain has become a complicate network of data flowing from diverse sources such as manufacturers, suppliers, logistics providers, warehouses, and points of sale. This complex network presents an array of challenges related to data integration, data quality, data security, real-time data processing, effective data visualization, and regulatory compliance.

This Special Issue is to delve into these challenges and shed light on the value of data in specific supply chain contexts such as transparency, forecast accuracy, risk management, inventory optimization, inter-firm collaboration, product/process innovation. We seek contributions that address broader challenges and future trends in data management in digital supply chain. This covers a wide array of topics such as the data integration, data security, data sharing, data regulation, data governance, data processing, data breach risk, and data-driven innovation in the supply chain. We especially welcome empirical studies that are grounded in real-world experiences, providing valuable guidance for practitioners unleashing the value of data in digital supply chains.
