Introduction

Catering for learner diversity has become an important issue in contemporary education. Advances in smart and interactive technologies have supported innovative practices to identify and satisfy learners’ diverse needs. For example, the increasing use of learning analytics, artificial intelligence and mobile technology has demonstrated their inseparable role in a broad range of educational developments in relation to catering for learner needs in terms of advancing the learning environments, pedagogical methods, curriculum development and educational management.

This special issue will contribute to addressing the pressing need for scholars and practitioners in education-related fields to keep abreast of such developments. It will provide a platform for sharing research, practices and views related to catering for learner diversity, as well as the potential of the latest technological developments for supporting this.
