21st CEEMAN Case Writing Competition in partnership with Emerald


The results are in

CEEMAN and Emerald are delighted to announce the winners of the 21st Annual Case Writing Competition!

Once again, this year's iteration of the competition built on the success of 2014, achieving a record-breaking number of submissions. A total number of 76 cases, written by 154 authors and co-authors from 93 institutions in 42 countries were submitted for the competition which was organized for the ninth consecutive year in co-operation with Emerald Group Publishing.

Based on the competition criteria, 30 cases were shortlisted for the evaluation by the jury consisting of Vladimir Nanut, MIB School of Management, Italy; Al Rosenbloom, Dominican University, USA and Leif Sjoblom, IMD, Switzerland.

The winning cases

1st place

For the case entitled Returpack: The integrator of the beverage can recycling process.

Dr Moricz and Associate Professor Drotos share a monetary prize of €2,500, 100% scholarship for participation in one of the CEEMAN faculty development programs, and a 12-month free subscription to an Emerald subject collection

Commenting on winning this years competition, Dr Moricz had this to say: "We feel very much honoured that the prestigious evaluation committee have selected our case study as the winner. This competition is a great motivation for faculty members committed to curriculum development and the case study method. This is one of the several ways how both CEEMAN and Emerald are consistently supporting the development of management education."

Dr Moricz concluded by saying; "We would like to say thank you to Returpack's CEO, Laszlo Duma for providing us with the amazing story of his company and also to our colleagues at the Faculty of Business Administration of Corvinus University since their dedication to high quality research and teaching is our greatest inspiration."

 

2nd place

For the case entitled Osklen: The Aesthetics of Social Change

Dr Poldner, Dr Ivanova, Dr Branzei share a monetary prize of €1,000, 50% scholarship for participation in one of the CEEMAN faculty development programs, and a 12-month free subscription to an Emerald subject collection.

 

3rd place

For the case entitled Preserving the Delicate Balance to Manage a Thriving Business in South Africa – the Adventure of OneLogix

Dr Goh, Professor Saville and Dr Scheepers share a monetary prize of €500, 30% scholarship for participation in one of the CEEMAN faculty development programs, and a 12-month free subscription to an Emerald subject collection.

 

 

Congratulations to all of our winning authors! The award ceremony will took place at the 23rd CEEMAN Annual Conference (23-26 September in Almaty, Kazakhstan) on September 25.

Congratulations to all of the authors whose cases made the shortlist. Even if you didn't win a prize or make the shortlist you do not need to worry, ALL cases submitted to the competition will still be considered for publication in the Emerald Emerging Markets Case Studies (EEMCS) collection, subject to successful double-blind peer review!
