Results are in!
CEEMAN and Emerald are delighted to announce the winners of the 20th Annual Case Writing Competition!
This year marked the 20th iteration of the annual competition and built on the success of last year, achieving impressive numbers of submissions once again. The competition received 26 original case study submissions from academics based at institutions across the globe including Canada, Hungary, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Latvia, Malaysia, Romania, Singapore, Switzerland, United Arab Emirates and United States of America.
Based on the competition criteria, 10 cases were shortlisted for evaluation by the jury, consisting of Vladimir Nanut, MIB School of Management, Italy; Al Rosenbloom, Dominican University, USA and Leif Sjoblom, IMD, Switzerland.
The winning cases
In 1st place:
Ms Monika Nadj & Dr. Zoltan Buzady
For the case entitled Painted Into a Corner: Managing the Virtual Sales Team at ColorPlus Industries
In 2nd place:
Dr Jenson Chong-Leng Goh, Mr Manohar Sabnani, Associate Professor Gee Kwang Randolph Tan & Ms Siew Peng Tan.
For the case entitled Mastering the art of managing a conglomerate business empire in Myanmar
In 3rd place:
Professor June M. L. Poon
For the case entitled The Love-smitten Director: Workplace Romance or Sexual Harassment?
Congratulations to all of our winning authors!
Dr. Zoltan Buzady of the Central European University Business School and a co-author of the winning case study commented:
“I am very proud, in particular as I have won the competition for the second time. It (the award) is an international, peer recognition of leading scholars and experts of leadership development, relevant in emerging and transition markets.”
He went on to discuss the competition in more detail, saying:
“The competition is an ideal tool to show to a wider audience where, in the Central and Eastern European region the new emerging hubs for leadership research are. It sets out the professional guidelines along which the jury takes their decision - they are reasonable and comprehensive of many aspects of the case writing process, enhancing the quality of the submitted case studies.”
