ECAM special issue call for papers

Special issue call for papers from Engineering, Construction and Architectural Management

Engineering, Construction and Architectural Management (ECAM)
Special Issue: Strategic Management in Construction in China guest edited by Professor Charles Egbu, The University of Salford, England, UK and Associate Professor Jun Ying Liu, School of Management, Tianjin University, China.

Engineering, Construction and Architectural Management (ECAM) is pleased to announce a call for papers for a special issue devoted to examining the areas on Strategic Management in Construction in China.

The growth, scale and pace of China’s construction and property markets in the last two decades are nothing short of phenomenal. This has attracted attention from academics, practitioners, consultants and policy makers alike from developed and developing economies. This growth and pace in China’s construction and property markets has, however, not been matched by parallel research and critical discussions and reflection of varied strategic implications now and for the future. This takes heightened urgency with the current crash in financial markets, the collapse of the property markets in many developed countries, increasing globalisation and competition and escalating costs of dwindling resources. The importance of strategic choices and effective strategic management have never been more important and needed in the management of construction and property assets. At the same time, organisational intangible assets which could provide competitive advantage are rarely addressed, let alone addressed from a strategic standpoint in such a way that provides possibilities and benefits for organisations, stakeholders and wider beneficiaries of construction and property assets. This Special Issue is therefore very timely.

The Special Issue seeks original contributions in the areas on Strategic Management in Construction in China. The following areas are particularly encouraged:

§         Benchmarking and Competitiveness
§         Leadership and Entrepreneurship
§         Organisational Learning and Renewal
§         Corporate Marketing, Branding and Image
§         Strategic Human Resource Management
§         Internationalisation of Markets

§         Knowledge Exchanges Between Developing and Developed Markets
§         Managing intangible assets.

Original papers that reflect upon, and proffer strategic directions and their implications for the construction and property sectors in China are also welcome.

All full papers submitted are subject to anonymous double-blind peer review by relevant academics and researchers.
