Subject Covered:

Multiple Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) techniques constitute valuable tools for structuring and evaluating complex decision situations, and can allow for more informed, potentially better decisions (Belton and Stewart, 2002). These techniques are able to build on the knowledge of expert participants in a given field, and produce assessment systems based on their values and experience (Keeney, 1992).

Constructivist in nature, this approach has grown exponentially over the past few years, causing a change in the decision-making arena in general, and in the field of operational research/management science (OR/MS) in particular (Zavadskas et al., 2014).

This special issue sought to bring together recent developments and methodological contributions within MCDA. Although reworking of case studies from other authors and bibliometric literature reviews are not encouraged, it is open to all contributions proposing both new MCDA methods and advances in existing MCDA techniques. Contributions dealing with MCDA in real-world decision situations are particularly welcome. We are interested in topics such as:

Collaborative decision making
MCDA applications for policy making
Decision models for competitive gains
Decision support and strategic planning
Information aggregation and use
Mental models and cognitive mapping
Performance measurement system design and development
Soft systems for complex problems
Systems thinking and business dynamics
Value-focused thinking

All papers will be subject to the journal’s usual reviewing procedure to ensure a high quality of the contributions.

Submission of the Full Paper: 30 April 2018
Double blind review outcome: 30 June 2018
Deadline for resubmission: 31 July 2018
Tentative date for completing the second review cycle: 30 September 2018
Final submission: 31 October 2018

Papers should be original, unpublished, and not currently under consideration for publication elsewhere. Before submitting manuscripts authors are advised to ensure that they have conformed to the requirements detailed in the instructions to authors that can be found on the journal homepage. Prospective contributors are invited to informally discuss their proposed paper with the Guest Editors prior to submission.
