Call for Special Issue Papers: Sustainable planning, urban design & architecture in the Middle East & North Africa region
Special issue call for papers from Smart and Sustainable Built Environment
Sustainable planning, urban design & architecture in the Middle East & North Africa region
Sustainable planning is a thriving topic reflecting a steadily increased awareness of sustainability in the built environment in the GCC and wider MENA regions. But, we feel that well-documented and published research is lacking. Given the unique and extreme climatic conditions in many parts of the region, it is necessary to document the application of these concepts to the unique conditions found in terms of climate, building quality, design quality, and operations.
This is an Open Access Special Issue funded by Emerald Publishing. All author fees will be waived.
We would like the timing of submissions to align with the Qatar Green Building Conference in late October, giving the opportunity for outstanding papers to be published in an indexed and peer-reviewed journal. We would, as suggested, be happy to consider papers from outside the conference.
A list of anticipated themes may include:
- Passivhaus in the MENA region
- Retrofitting the built environment and the economic implications
- Green business in the built environment
- Sustainable planning
- Urban ecology in arid environments
- Climate change strategies for planning in the MENA region
The submission deadline is November 30th, 2017
