Special Issue Call for Papers: Banking and financial services

Special issue call for papers from Managerial Finance

Managerial Finance solicits high-quality papers for a special issue focusing on topics related to banking and financial services. The Guest Editor, Dr Ken Cyree (University of Mississippi, USA), is particularly interested in current challenges in the industry and the outlook for the future given the environment.  Possible topics include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Bank regulatory effects
  • Non-bank competition effects from FinTech and other non-traditional competitors
  • The effects of the low interest rate environment on financial services
  • Compliance issues related to financial services
  • Basel III and changes in capital rule and the effects on the industry
  • Costs and benefits of bank diversification across financial services
  • Bank mergers and acquisitions
  • Constraints to bank entry and the decline of de novo banking
  • Current and expected changes to financial services based on technology
  • Financial services product delivery channel challenges and opportunities
  • The impact of compliance and regulation on bank lending
  • Bank credit provision to small and medium businesses
  • Changes in investment banking, private equity, fixed income, and insurance due to recent rule changes
  • International banking
  • Macro-prudential regulation
  • Monetary policy effects on financial services
  • Global banking
  • Shadow banking
  • Cross-institution and/or cross-country contagion through financial intermediaries
  • Corporate governance effects in financial services firms

Papers should be submitted electronically online via the Managerial Finance submission system: Please follow the journal submission guidelines here and specify that the manuscript is for the special issue on banking and financial services in the submission process. While the submission deadline is 30 November 2017, authors are encouraged to submit their manuscripts early. All submissions will be subject to double blind peer review by referees.
