Special issue call for papers from Management of Environmental Quality
EQ&OR: Environmental Quality and Operations Research
Guest Editor:
Surya Prakash Singh, Associate Professor, Department of Management Studies, Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, [email protected]
Background:
The rapid climate change and global warming forced the industries to rethink its business operational strategy from an environmental quality perspective. Over the last decade, carbon trading concept emerged which to a great extent forced business organizations globally to shift from traditional operations and production into an eco-friendly one i.e. environmentally sustainable operations to manage environmental quality. Traditionally, business operations were strategized, designed and optimized considering all factors either qualitative or quantitative primarily focusing revenue/ profit. However, these well proven traditional approaches now-a-days are not effective and efficient to manage the business in presence of carbon trading. Therefore, there is need for re-strategized, re-designed and re-optimized operations considering not only optimizing revenue/ profit but also managing optimally environmental quality.
The Special Issue aims to provide latest development in the field of environmental quality through quantitative modelling using Operations Research, and qualitative modelling using various multi-criteria decision making (MCDM) tools and techniques. These papers can be used for future research directions and can be also used as teaching aids to demonstrate applicability of areas in real practise.
The Special Issue focuses but is not limited to the following topics:
• Environmentally sustainable manufacturing, production and planning
• Environmentally sustainable production and consumption
• Environmentally sustainable logistics network for supply chain including reverse logistics
• Environmentally sustainable procurement plan
• Environmentally sustainable plant layout/location design
• Multi-criteria decision making for managing environmental quality
• Big data approach for managing environmental quality
• Waste management (reduce, reuse, recycle) towards managing environmental quality
• Environmentally sustainable services management
