Knowledge Management in Organisations and Inter-firm Networks

JKM is the international Journal of Knowledge Management, has an ISI impact factor of 1.248 and was ranked top in a recent IKM journal rankings study.

This special 2014 JKM issue is guest edited by Prof. Vincenzo Maggioni, Director CESIR, Second University of Naples, Italy. 

The scientific objective of this special issue is to identify challenging problems on the role of knowledge management on designing and implementing innovative products, services or inter-organisational forms, as well as to identify future directions of research for the role of knowledge management regarding these issues. Potential contributions may include, but are not be limited to, theoretical and empirical papers on: 

  • Knowledge creation, capture and sharing within organizations and inter-firm networks
  • The role of knowledge management for inter-organisational innovation
  • Cultural barriers that hinder effective knowledge management
  • Knowledge Management (KM) in the cloud

We are looking for authors with a solid knowledge management background to submit papers in these formats:

  • Empirical research using qualitative, quantitative or mixed methods
  • Conceptual papers citing the existing literature and providing innovative contributions that improve our understanding of the topic
  • Papers that contribute to the creation of a solid evidence base concerning KM in organizations and inter-firm networks

All Papers should be 5,000 to 7,000 words in length and should not have been published previously in any other journal (print or electronic) format. Papers will reviewed by a special review board tailored to this Special Issue. All papers should follow the publisher's style and format

  • This special issue is closely linked to the International Conference "Research, Production and Management" (October 2013, Naples, Italy), which is organized by the special issue editor. However, participation to the conference itself or the acceptance of a paper for presentation does not give the authors any right to be selected for our special Issue
  • All papers must be targeted at the JKM readership and KM research community using the publisher guidelines listed above. 

Biography
Professor Vincenzo Maggioni is Full Professor of Business Management at the Faculty of Economics of the Second University of Naples (since 1994). In this University he served as Director of the Management Department and of PhD Program in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, too. He was Dean of the Faculty of Economics of the Second University of Naples since 2002 to 2010 and President (2006-2008) of the National Conference of the Deans (Economics and Statistics). He previously taught Marketing Management at the University of Cassino, Business Management at the "Federico II" University of Naples and Business Management and Business Organization at the University of Salerno. He is currently in charge member of the Evaluation Committee as of the Chamber of Commerce of Caserta; member of the Board of Directors of "BioTekNet SCpA" Research Society; President of the Board of Auditors of "Mostra d'Oltremare SpA", President of the Strategic Control Committee of Regione Campania. During his past academic experience he coordinated various research programs focused on new venture creation and the economic analysis of various local and national industries. Among his most relevant appointments he served as member of the governmental "Commission for the price determination of the medicines" (1990-1992) established at the "Comitato Interministeriale Prezzi" and, previously, as member of the governmental "Commission for the evaluation of the costs on the back of the pharmaceutical corporations for their scientific research and royalties" established at the "Comitato Interministeriale Prezzi" (1986-1989). During the past years he served also as: member of the Evaluation Committee for the Italian Law 44/86, in charge of evaluator of new ventures' business plans; member of the governmental "Commission for the evaluation of the Public investments" (FIO) for the italian Ministry of the Balance; member of the "Technical and Scientific Commission for the evaluation of projects for the environment protection and the reclamation" for the italian Ministry for the Environment; member of the Consulting Committee of Regione Campania for the coordination of EU regional investments (1996-99); member of the Board of Directors of CIRA (Italian Research Centre for Aerospace Research); member of the Scientific Committee of Regione Campania (2003-2005); member of Evaluation Committee of the University of Palermo, of the University of Catania and of the University of Salerno. He recently served as General Director of "SSPAL" (School of Specialisation for the local Public Administration) (2005-2008), as member of the Scientific Committee of the "Consorzio Technapoli - Parco Scientifico e Tecnologico dell'Area Metropolitana di Napoli" and, finally, as member of the Scientific Committee of the "Consorzio PROMOS Ricerche" (Naples), as well. He is member of the "Italian Academy of Accounting" and of the "Italian Academy of Business Management".
