Special Issue Call for Papers from Marketing Intelligence & Planning

Introduction

This special issue will focus on the marketing responses to the current economic crisis (within the context of the contemporary environment) and the marketing strategies and practices that organizations develop in order to manage their way through the existing problems. It is possible that marketing strategies adopted by firms in periods of economic crisis are quite different from those adopted in periods of a more stable environment.  It is suggested that such periods encompass a number of features that affect most of marketing parameters including marketing mix strategies, customer behaviour, ethical issues and internationalization strategies. This issue will identify the special characteristics of marketing during periods of crisis and stimulate dialogue to uncover and clarify new perspectives of marketing analysis.

Subject Coverage

Potential authors are invited to submit papers related but not restricted to the following topics:

-Marketing principles revisited in a period of crisis
-Marketing planning and strategies in the contemporary environment
-The particular significance of pricing strategies
-The importance of branding and private labels
-The role of promotional strategies
-Changes in consumer behavior
-The role of logistics and distribution
-New tools for research
-Environmental marketing, a luxury?
-Environmental trends and new marketing opportunities
-Internationalization of companies as a solution to domestic problems
-The role of Information Technology in marketing effectiveness

Important Note

This special issue will include some of the best papers presented at the International Conference on Contemporary Marketing Issues (ICCMI) 2012 provided that they are enhanced with new material (at least 50%). Moreover, public submissions are welcome. All papers should be submitted through the Journal’s normal submission process – details below.

Notification of acceptance: May 31st, 2013
Publication: September 2013

Submissions (4-6000 words) will be handled through the journal's online manuscript submission system, Manuscript Central (http://mc.manuscriptcentral.com/mip). Please make sure that you adhere to the author guidelines available at the journal web site: www.emeraldinsight.com/mip.htm. Details of how to set up your own account on Manuscript Central are provided at the journal web site. When submitting your manuscript you will be asked to specify whether the manuscript is for a normal issue of Marketing Intelligence & Planning or for this special issue, please make sure that you select the “Marketing Strategies and Practices in the Contemporary Environment” special issue option.  Papers must not have been published, accepted for publication, or presently be under consideration for publication elsewhere. A standard double-blind review process will be used to select papers for the special issue.
