Special issue on

Benchmarking in information ergonomics

Technical advances have led to a complex information environment, with a greater amount of information available in a greater variety of formats and types, and accessible through a greater variety of channels such as the internet-based applications. An increasing amount of information leads easily to information overload, especially in work. Information overload has individual, organizational, and even economy level effects.

Owing to the increasing amount of information available and needed in everyday life and in a work context, individuals and organizations have been paying more attention to fluent information practices. Information ergonomics consist of several viewpoints, such as management and refining of information, wellbeing in work, performance in knowledge- related tasks, time management, innovation, and development of working life.

The subject covered in the special issue includes, but is not limited to, topics that address:

.Information practices

.Individuals and information

.Organizations and information

.Computer-supported collaboration

.Extended cognition

.Social media and web 2.0

.Personal knowledge management

.Knowledge-based value creation.

Suggested viewpoints can include business and leisure and both macro and micro levels. The aim is to gather novel approaches in practice in the field of information ergonomics as well as to contribute to academic debate.
