The Annual Review of Comparative and International Education 2024 covers major developments, current trends, and future directions in the field of comparative and international education. We invite chapter proposals that review the current understanding of topics relevant to comparative and international education, including well-established findings and ongoing debates. Submissions should place these topics in context, identify key unresolved questions, forecast future research directions, and discuss the practical implications and broader significance of comparative and international education scholarship and practice.
Review chapter proposals are invited for the following sections:
A. Conceptual and Methodological Developments: addressing how theoretical frameworks and research methodologies frame comparative and international education research and practice.
B. Research-to-Practice: focusing on the translation of comparative and international education research into practical applications and situations in educational systems worldwide.
C. Area Studies and Regional Developments: providing insights into how unique social, cultural, political, and economic contexts in different regions impact education, and what this means for the field of comparative and international education.
D. Diversification of the Field: exploring emerging topics and issues that have been underexplored or that show significant potential within the field of comparative and international education.
Review chapter proposals should (a) be 1000 word maximum summaries, (b) identify the preferred contribution section (see A-D above), and (c) deal explicitly with as many of the following as applicable:
- a clear statement of the topic being reviewed;
- relevant social, economic, political, or historical context of topic;
- key unresolved questions;
- possible future research directions;
- the broader significance or relevance of the proposed review chapter to comparative and international education research or practice; and
- a representative reference list (does not add to proposal word count).
Timeline
- Proposal submission deadline: 29 November 2024
- Editor decisions on proposals: 15 December 2024
- Complete draft manuscript due: 31 March 2025
- Final manuscript due: 31 May 2025.
