Emerald EarlyCite and accepted articles

In the past Emerald has published the PDF of accepted author manuscripts online as EarlyCite articles.  These articles were allocated to a forthcoming issue but were not fully typeset and were not the Version of Record. This form of EarlyCite article will now be renamed as accepted articles, in line with standard practice.

We are delighted to announce that, from 2017, Emerald are transitioning journals to article-level publishing.  Articles that are accepted within a journal operating on the article-level workflow will be typeset, proofed and published online in EarlyCite as the Version of Record within an average of 32 days of acceptance.  EarlyCite articles will be the typeset, citable version of the articles with full online functionality.

EarlyCite articles will still be collated into issues in advance of print publication.  At this point, the articles will move to the table of contents for the Compiled Issue and assigned pagination information. The DOI will provide a persistent identifier throughout.
