Emerald enters into strategic alliance with Hangzhou Dianzi University
Collaboration between HDU and Emerald on the Chinese Management Studies Journal will help advance knowledge of the development of Chinese management theory and practice
The collaboration is an extension of an already established working relationship between the two organizations, as HDU is a valued customer of Emerald’s online collection of academic journals. HDU and Emerald will pursue new opportunities centred around CMS, including support of an annual management conference at HDU.
CMS was first published in 2007; and, in less than a decade, it has become a prestigious journal indexed in the Thomson Reuters Social Science Citation Index and in Scopus.
The journal seeks to provide in-depth analysis of Chinese managerial thinking, philosophy and processes through empirical pieces on Chinese management, as well as interviews and dialogue to reflect current thinking on management by leading Chinese officials, academics and personalities.
Academician Prof Liu Ren-huai, as executive leader of the CMS collaborative project in HDU, said: “Our aim in introducing this project to HDU was to facilitate the understanding of Guan-li (the Chinese synonym for the English word ‘management’) in the world's academic community and to enhance the global presence of Chinese Guan-li theories and practices.”
Tony Roche, Publishing Director at Emerald, said: “Emerald is delighted to take our relationship with HDU to a higher level.
“Collaboration between HDU and Emerald on the CMS journal will help both parties create a stronger global understanding of issues relating to management practice in China, benefitting both research and management practice.”
Vice President Prof Hu Hua, spokesperson for HDU, said: “I would like to emphasize why HDU fully supports this Sino-UK co-operation - HDU considers this innovative project as a critical milestone for HDU's discipline development and internationalization strategy towards the world-renowned university.”
Chinese Management Studies fosters research by Chinese scholars across China, as well as the work of international researchers. In doing so, it demonstrates the range of management research capabilities within China together with the interest shown in Chinese management around the globe.
