Emerald journal news

Now accepting applications for Board Membership

The International Journal of Human Rights in Healthcare (IJHRH) is an international, peer reviewed journal with a unique practical approach to promoting race equality, inclusion and human rights in health and social care.

The Journal is currently welcoming candidates to apply to contribute to IJHRH as a member of the Editorial Board.

The Editorial Board is established to act as a strategic body that supports the Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Theo Gavrielides, and the publisher, Emerald Publishing, to achieve the Journal’s aims.

Editorial Board members work actively to:

  • help steer the direction of the Journal to maximise its impact in the field and ensure it publishes high quality, timely and relevant papers
  • solicit manuscripts and actively encourage colleagues/networks to submit to the Journal
  • review papers (when invited by the Editor) and identify suitable reviewers (when appropriate)
  • promote the journal extensively (both within their own institutions and externally, and at conferences or events) and externally and act as ambassadors for the Journal
  • write papers for the Journal (members are expected to submit at least one paper a year)
  • put forward suggestions and ideas for Special Issues
  • act as Guest Editors on Special Issues

There are many benefits of acting as a member of the Board, including:

  • As a board member you are supporting the body of knowledge and therefore increasing your reputation as a participatory academic
  • establishing yourself as an expert in the relevant field of research
  • Complimentary access to the journal
  • 35% discount on books in our Emerald Bookstore
  • Your name listed within each issue of the journal and on the journal website – a great way to increase your personal profile
  • The opportunity to network with colleagues and peers (other board members) and influence the journal's future development

If you are interested in becoming an Editorial Board Member, please send your CV and a one-page cover letter explaining your related experience and motivation to:
