The aim of this issue are three-fold, to:

(1)    Update and contribute to the current knowledge base of the Trans communities in the criminal justice system as research shows that there is a severe lack of knowledge from those working in this field.

(2)    Provide recommendations for best practice and policy development based on contemporary empirical research.

(3) Reflect global perspectives for working with Trans communities across a range of contexts within the Criminal Justice System.

We welcome submissions to this special issue. Topics covered include (but are not limited to):

•    Extent of trans criminality and victimisation
•    Risk management of gender diverse patients in forensic contexts
•    Violence towards trans women
•    Police perceptions of transgender officers
