Modeling and Simulation in the Energy Sector

The Energy Sector is shifting away from oil, and many countries across the globe are developing policies to reduce the heavy dependency on oil products in light of the much publicized environmental impacts. Research centres are looking for affordable strategies and technologies to realize the best balance between the environmental risk and the economic return. Modeling and simulation could help in the test design and evaluation of these strategies and technologies.

The International Conference on Modeling, Simulation and Applied Optimization (ICMSAO’19) is the eighth in a series of conferences organised by the University of Bahrain and provides an international forum for presentations and discussion of research across all areas of science and engineering involving the modeling, simulation and applied optimization of processes and systems. Among the topics covered in this conference is the discussion of renewable energy systems. As such, this special issue aims to publish recent trends and research on the use of modeling and simulation in addressing energy sector problems, relating specifically to renewable energy systems.

The topics include, but are not limited to, the following areas relating to modeling and simulation addressing innovative methodological aspects and real applications in the Energy Sector:

  • Statistical Modeling
  • Optimization Theory
  • Multiple Objective Optimization
  • Simulation Tools and Languages
  • Neural Networks and Fuzzy logic
  • Combinatorial Optimization
  • Transportation and Logistics
