The Journal of Science and Technology Policy Management (formerly known as Journal of Science and Technology Policy in China) considers high quality academic articles in the field of policy and management of innovation, R&D, science and technology relative in emerging economies. Indonesia is the largest economy in South-East Asia Economic Community and a member of the G-20. The Indonesian economic growth is supported by a large population (260 million, the 4th largest in the world) in which the majority is productive and expanding middle-class income. With a relatively stable and strong economic growth, Indonesia is now the world’s tenth-largest economy in purchasing power parity terms and is predicted to become the fourth-largest economy by 2050. Although Indonesia is a developing country, the development of science and technology are strong and supported by thousands of universities and research centers. Nevertheless, in terms of the Global Competitive Index, Indonesian’s rank is rather good (rank 45 out of 140 countries, 2018), but a rather low position in Global Innovation Index (rank 85 out of 129 countries, 2019). Indonesia has full of creative and innovative millennials that can quickly adapt and develop science and technology for the country need. It seems the country needs better policy and management of science and technology development to tap and strengthen the creative and innovative of Indonesian academics, researchers and millennial. Indonesian Universities and research institutes push their academic staff and researchers to publish paper is Scopus indexed journal. This issue will be the interesting and most likely to be cited by many Indonesia scholars if they publish similar topics.


The aim of the special issue is to provide a research progress and critical analysis of the state of the art of technological innovations in Indonesia, especially in terms of policy and management and related issues so that readers can have clear insights about them from this important country. It will cover different topics, from development, management, and policy of technological innovation in Indonesia
