Emerald Publishing invites applications for the position of Editor of the Journal of Information, Communication and Ethics in Society (JICES) to commence on 1 January 2025.

Journal of Information, Communication and Ethics in Society promotes thoughtful dialogue regarding the wider social and ethical issues related to the planning, development, implementation and use of new media and information and communication technologies.

Qualities Required
Some of the key qualities sought for the position of Editor are: an established record of scholarship in the field; previous experience in an editorial role (i.e. journals, special issues, book volumes); managerial skills to oversee the editorial cycle and meet deadlines; a willingness to work closely and collaboratively with the journal Commissioning Editor; the ability to inspire an active Editorial Board; a clear long-term vision for JICES both in terms of the quality of research published and its position within its academic discipline; a willingness and drive to embrace the opportunity to develop JICES and raise its standing.
Main Editor Responsibilities
- Management of the editorial office via the online submission tool ScholarOne (full training will be provided)
- Soliciting high quality manuscripts and assisting authors through the editorial process
- Initial screening of submissions and the management of the peer review process
- Selecting a pool of competent reviewers
- Supplying accepted articles to the Publisher, working within the agreed schedule
- Working with and managing the contributions of the Editorial Board
- Advising Emerald on the direction and development of JICES
- Promoting JICES to your networks and at conferences to encourage authorship and usage.
