Overview of special issue

Building on the success of the SEEDS 2020 conference and recent International Energy Agency projects, authors are invited to develop their working papers for review and submission to a Special Issue for the International Journal of Building Pathology and Adaption.

The Special Issue will aim to highlight innovative and sustainable research and practice under the following themes: 

  • Building performance and measurement: thermal performance, air quality, comfort and wellbeing 
  • Green and sustainable infrastructure: wastewater, flooding, sustainable drainage systems, climate change adaption strategies. 
  • Smart and flexible buildings: renewable energy, energy flexibility, building energy flexibility, innovative and smart solutions 

Indicative list of anticipated themes

  • Building energy and performance: measuring, modelling and adapting
  • Air quality, thermal comfort, ventilation and wellbeing: understating the building occupant interface 
  • Green and sustainable infrastructure: building more resilient and adaptive infrastructure
  • Smart and sustainable cities, adaption strategies: enabling the digital transition
  • nZEB buildings and energy efficient retrofits: building the energy flexibility to decarbonise
  • Building life cycle analysis: cradle to the grave analysis
