Introduction
The "Reviewer 2" phenomenon has become emblematic of condescending and unconstructive peer review practices, disproportionately affecting marginalized groups such as women of color, non-binary individuals, and non-native English-speaking academics. These attitudes perpetuate hierarchical norms, positioning reviewers as gatekeepers and authors as inferior, particularly in non-Anglo-American contexts. This special issue will examine the broader structural implications of the "Reviewer 2" attitude, emphasizing how it reinforces inequalities in knowledge production and academic publishing. Integrating feminist, queer, and decolonial perspectives, the issue aims to deconstruct these biases and offer practical strategies to foster more inclusive dialogues. Additionally, the issue will explore the impact of linguistic hegemony, where English marginalizes scholars from non-Anglophone contexts, seeking to encourage diverse and fairer peer review practices.
