In the 1986 inaugural volume of Sociological Studies of Children And Youth, editors Patricia Adler and Peter Adler noted: "the study of children and child development is empirically and theoretically central to the discipline of sociology." Continuing today, SSCH is an outlet for social scientists researching topics related to children or youth.
