Wayfinding from the Users' Perspective: The Connection between User Experience and Library Wayfinding

Special issue call for papers from Library Hi Tech

Scope

There has been a lot of discussion in libraries about user experience and wayfinding. One of the most important things libraries can do is help patrons find the materials they need.

In this Special Issue we seek to explore the interconnected relationships between user experience and wayfinding. Much of User Experience seeks to understand how our patrons interact with our services. No where is interaction more important than in understanding how a patron goes about navigating different library spaces, technologies and even ideas. All papers aimed to address the connection between all types of wayfinding and user experience are welcome.

Experimental articles detail a validation test of one or more theoretical ideas that are related to advanced data technologies. Analytical articles report the results of detailed analysis of behavior and opinions across a range of settings and methodologies, including user studies, surveys and log analysis with respect to the big data analytics and mining methods. Application-oriented articles provide successful application of few techniques from the literature for a significant real-world problem.

Topics of interest for the special issue include (but are not limited to):

• Wayfinding in physical space
• Wayfinding in digital space
• User Experience with Library systems
• Library system enhancement based on user feedback
• Theoretical perspectives on user experiences
• Theoretical perspectives on wayfinding
• Wayfinding case studies
