Social Impact Award 2010

Awards for Excellence

For the first time this year, Emerald have launched an award for the paper with a high social impact. This new award recognizes outstanding research that makes a tangible difference for the good of society. Reflecting Emerald’s publishing philosophy, the award was open to articles published in an Emerald journal in 2009 that demonstrated real-world application with a high social impact.

The shortlist and winning paper was judged and chosen by a panel of experts from the Globally Responsible Leadership Initiative (GRLI), the largest community of businesses and business schools/learning institutions uniquely focused on developing a “new” generation of globally responsible leaders. The winning paper is:

What matters to managers? The whats, whys, and hows of corporate social responsibility in a multinational corporation written by Esben Pedersen and Peter Neergard and published in Management Decision, Vol. 47 No 8.

The winning author, Esben Pedersen comments, "We are of course very excited about winning the Social Impact Award. It is great to know that researchers and practitioners read and acknowledge our work." Peter Neergard continues, “We are honoured and proud to be awarded this prestigious prize".
