Message from the Editors

We offer our sincere thanks to the Associate Editors, the Board Members, and the ad-hoc reviewers for making 2008 a very successful year for Career Development International (CDI). Indeed, in 2008, the number of submissions increased and both review time and the acceptance rate decreased. These changes have resulted in the publication of high quality articles in 2008. With your help, we intend to continue this very positive trend.

We believe the elevated profile and prestige of CDI will appeal to prospective authors as they consider competing outlets for their research. In addition this past year we worked closely with our Publisher, Nancy Rolph, at Emerald Group Publishing Limited, in applying for inclusion in the Thomson Reuters (formerly ISI) database of select journals. We are optimistic our application will be approved. Promoting our journal to the scientific community continues to be our primary goal for CDI.
CDI is a truly international journal that will continue to publish high quality papers. In addition to publishing mainstream career research, we also publish research dealing with topics in Human Resource Management and Organizational Behavior. HR and OB researchers are encouraged to submit their research to CDI for consideration. Additionally, we emphasize that acceptance decisions are based solely on the merits of the manuscript and no preference is given to one methodology or level of analysis over another.
We intend to continue publishing Special Issues on topics dealing with important issues, concerns and emerging trends. Readers and prospective authors are encouraged to contact us with their ideas for Special Issues.
We are proud to begin our second year as Editors with an outstanding collection of contributions from noted organizational scholars. Our goal is to publish high quality articles in every issue.
We look forward to another great year for CDI!
