Leading academic launches cash prize for best paper award
Emerald Group Publishing Limited, the world’s leading publisher of management research, is launching a best paper award in conjunction with a new journal launch: China Agricultural Economic Review (CAER). At the end of each volume the editorial committee will select the three best papers in the journal and award prizes of $3000 for first prize and $1000 each for second and third prize.
The editor, Professor Xian Xin of the China Agricultural University, comments, "We are delighted that a senior economist has chosen to work with Emerald to help raise the standard of research in this important area through encouraging papers and studies on agricultural and rural development. The donor has chosen to remain anonymous but will be following the awards closely. We look forward to receiving many high quality papers for consideration and publication in China Agricultural Economic Review - which will be read by researchers and agribusiness personnel as well as policy makers and non-governmental organisations."
He continues, "Interest in China's agricultural economics has been increasing as the Chinese economy is gradually integrated into the world. The real situation of China's agricultural and rural development, however, is far less known to those outside China. China Agricultural Economic Review provides a unique 'insider' perspective which will act as a window to improve the exchange of Chinese agricultural economics with the outside world. CAER will also bring international advanced theories and practices to China's agricultural and rural development."
Emerald has long been supportive of Chinese research and established a local presence in Beijing in the summer of 2007. It launched the Chinese Management Studies journal in 2007 and has added the Journal of Chinese Economic and Foreign Trade Studies, Journal of Chinese Entrepreneurship and the Journal of Knowledge-based Innovation in China in 2008, plus the upcoming 2010 launch, Journal of Science Technology Policy in China. Emerald will also continue to support key conferences in the field of Chinese agricultural and rural development.
