Aims and Scope
Research in the Sociology of Education accents new and engaging work on problems facing schools, families, and their communities.
Contributions come from authors spread around the globe, illuminating how the efficacy and ideologies of schooling variably unfold in differing national and historical contexts. Written by sociologists, anthropologists, economists, and cultural critics, this journal offers lively and accessible empirical work to a broad audience.
About the Editors
Grace Kao is Professor of Sociology and Faculty Director of Education Studies at Yale University. Formerly, she was Professor of Sociology, Education, and Asian American Studies at the University of Pennsylvania, where she taught for 20 years. Dr. Kao’s research focuses on race, ethnicity, and immigration as they collectively relate to education and relationships among young people.
Hyunjoon Park is Korea Foundation Professor of Sociology at the University of Pennsylvania. Park is interested in how families and schools influence students’ educational outcomes in cross-national comparative perspective, focusing on East Asian countries.
