Frequently Asked Questions
I have an idea for a book, who should my initial point of contact be?
If you have an idea, or a more fully-formed proposal, for a book then your first point of contact should be the commissioning editor for that subject area. We publish across business, finance, economics and the social sciences.
Is there the option to publish my book Open Access?
At Emerald we believe in offering a range of open access options to our book authors and their sponsoring bodies. We offer open access across all of our book formats – monographs, handbooks, short form and professional content. Our open access books content goes through the same rigorous peer review process that all of our book content is put through to ensure we maintain the highest level of quality for all of the research that we publish.

What is peer review, when does it take place?
Peer review is an integral part of academic publishing. Everything we publish is peer reviewed at the proposal stage, single blind, by a specialist from the relevant academic community. This enables us to provide you with constructive feedback, as quickly as we can, that will result in a better book.

What is the Kudos platform?
To support the ongoing promotion and impact of all research, Emerald offers all authors free access to Kudos, an award-winning service that helps researchers and their institutions and funders maximize the visibility and impact of their published content. Kudos helps authors explain, enrich and share links to their publications – increasing the breadth of people funding, reading and citing them.
