Aims and scope

The International Journal of Ethics and Systems (formerly named Humanomics, the International Journal of Systems and Ethics) is a multidisciplinary journal publishing peer review research on issues of ethics and morality affecting socio-scientific systems in epistemological perspectives. The journal covers diverse areas of a socio-scientific nature.  The focus is on disseminating the theory and practice of morality and ethics as a system-oriented study defined by inter-causality between critical variables of given problems. 

The journal welcomes international empirical, theoretical and conceptual work of scholarly nature that addresses the following topics as part of a broader list:
  • Evolutionary epistemology and the construction of learning models of relational ethics
  • Evolutionary economic theory, modeling, and applications
  • Heterodox models of ethics and economics, social economics, history of economic thought, and critique of economic theory, financial economics, society and science as process
  • Consilience: unity of knowledge between diverse fields (religion, science, culture, socioeconomic development etc.)
  • Wellbeing: Formalism of the wellbeing evaluation indexes, Political economy studies of wellbeing, Inter-temporal valuation models of participatory development approaches in the common goods wellbeing context
  • Discursive studies of collective decision-making in all forms of institutions and groups
  • Critical problems of socio-economic development: sustainability, poverty alleviation, social justice, environment, employment, price-stability, endogenous technological change, and development and relational ethics in the context of conscious social responsibility and endogenous (relational embedding) ethics and systems
  • Formal treatment of money and real economy, resource, finance, common good, social capital, and spiritual capital Individual and institutional decision-making with dynamic preference functions and complexity approaches
  • Other scholarly areas of relevance to relational ethics and the embedding systems of diversity

The Journal welcomes special issues on relevant topics or in partnership with relevant conferences, for which papers are duly selected and peer-reviewed by the journal's referees. 

The Journal is indexed in Scopus and the Web of Science Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI). As well as providing a mark of quality for the journal, inclusion in Scopus and ESCI allows papers published in the journal to be searchable, discoverable and citable.
