ISSN: 0143-991X
eISSN: 0143-991X

Aims and scope

Industrial Robot (IR) publishes cutting-edge, peer-reviewed research articles, technology reviews and specially commissioned case studies that advance robotic science and engineering. The journal aims to disseminate high-impact research and strategic insights covering all aspects of robotics, automation and intelligent systems in all industries.

IR emphasizes publication of novel contributions validated through physical implementation and experimentation. Papers reporting results verified only in simulation are considered out of scope. This focus on applied research ensures the journal provides maximum value to industry professionals, researchers, and practitioners developing real-world robotic solutions.

Industrial Robot's coverage spans, but is not limited to:

  • Advanced manipulation, grasping, and dexterous robotic hands
  • Aerial, underwater, and field robotics
  • Agricultural robotics and their applications
  • AI, machine learning and deep learning for robotics
  • Assistive and rehabilitation robotics
  • Autonomous systems, vehicles and drones

The journal aims to provide its readership with interdisciplinary insights into the complete spectrum of robotics research, connecting theory with impactful applications. Authors are encouraged to highlight the real-world value and potential societal benefits of their innovations.

Virtual issues

Over the years the Industrial Robot journal has published a hugely impressive collection of both technology reviews that cover the design and application of commercial robotic systems, and also rare commercial interviews of academic roboticists and inventors who have managed to turn their ideas into commercial reality – often with astonishing success.
