The Emergence of Executive-Academic Research

Special issue call for papers from Journal of Business & Industrial Marketing

With its aim to publish new ideas for academics and practitioners and to provide new evidence-based insights that are applicable in real life settings, the purpose of this special issue of Journal of Business & Industrial Marketing (JBIM) is to exhibit exemplar executive-academic research from Executive Doctor in Business programs. The faculty at the Georgia State University EDB program will serve as the special issue co-editors. The GSU program was initiated in 2009 and since 2012 it has graduated more than one hundred executive doctorates. All graduates of executive doctorate programs in the World are invited to submit papers from their dissertation research to the special issue. These dissertations should have applied research methodology to study contemporary business problems through various forms of engaged scholarship (Van de Ven, 2007). As such, they would be positioned with one leg in business practice and the other in academic discourse with the purpose of developing new knowledge that is both relevant and rigorous.

To contribute to this special issue, we invite all graduates from executive doctorate programs to submit a paper based on their dissertation research. Papers should not exceed 8,000 words. It is hoped that at least one academic scholar will be involved as a coauthor. Topics may include, but are not limited to:
•    Business networks
•    Business strategy
•    Organizational change
•    Technology and innovation
