Preparing Graduates for Work Readiness

Special issue call for papers from Education + Training

Guest Editors: Dr Jason J Turner, Professor Jonathan Winterton

A recurrent area of research, which in the past has been researched from various perspectives including word-based learning, experiential learning and enterprise education, this Special Issue addresses the topic from a contemporary international perspective.

This Special Issue will take research forward in two ways: firstly, through examining current stakeholder perspectives of graduate readiness for the workplace and secondly, through providing insight into the balancing act education providers currently face creating a curriculum which engages with business but also has appropriate intellectual content distinguishing higher education from vocational education.

Research is invited which addresses the following topics:

- Industry relationships with education providers
- Employer and Government led employability initiatives
- Embedding employability skills into teaching, learning and assessment
- Practice based teaching and learning curriculum
- The learning space and its ability to replicate real-life
- Continuous professional development
- Graduate attributes and professional skills
- Gamification and the use of technology and non-technology led simulations
- Placements and internships
- Balancing efficiency of work-based learning with effectiveness outcomes
- Models of graduate employability
- Internationalisation of the graduate employment market
- The future facing graduate skills set
