Evaluating Integration Programmes

Special issue call for papers from Journal of Integrated Care

Special edition editors:
Axel Kaehne, Edge Hill University, UK
Axel.kaehne@edgehill.ac.uk

Bert Vrijhoef, University Medical Hospital Maastrich, Netherlands
b.vrijhoef@mumc.nl

The key aim of this special issue is to obtain a better overview of the differences and commonalities across the methodological approaches used in evaluating integrated care programmes, as well as identifying those that work well. A second objective is to contribute to the discussion around a possible standardisation of methods with the possibility of developing suitable protocols for the various types of integrations in health and social care.

The editors invite research, discussion and review papers on the challenges, methods and approaches in evaluating integration programmes and are particularly interested in novel methodologies and systematic reviews that may be of interest to practitioners as well as those conducting evaluations.

Papers should cover the following themes:

-    Evaluation methodologies – what works?
-    The difficulties of quantitative approaches in evaluating integrated care programmes
-    The promise of qualitative approaches in evaluation
-    Mixed method research
-    The role of public and patient involvement in evaluation research
-    The link between study design and evaluation methodologies
-    How to standardise evaluation methods in integrate care
